Cory Miles fishes from O.H. Ivie in West Texas to Clear Lake in Northern California. He knows bass fishing is a serious business. Between the miles on his boat trailer, entry fees, time away from work and family, he demands the best.
Cory has been cashing tournament checks all over the nation for years. Even still, he wanted a better tool. Like a surgeon picking the right scalpel, Cory reached out to the Sawgrass team and asked about developing what he really needed.
“Collins and I flexed rods all day. We cast them, took some fishing, thoughtfully creating what I needed as an angler”, Cory said before sitting down with Chris to sort out finish out details.
After a couple ofdays’ work Cory had a collection of rods that exceeded his demand, and we went into production. Collins’s excitement was obvious “Cory is a brain when it comes to bass fishing. He eats, sleeps and dreams it. Few are as qualified as Cory to bend a rod, think about the needs and adjust the specs so the finished product checks all his boxes.”
Cory’s rods are built to be a flagship bass rod for the serious angler. The Cory Miles series is designed to accommodate anything in your tackle compartment whether in salt- or fresh-water. The rods are finished with premium cork, NFC HM blanks, a combination of REC Recoil and Fuji Torziteguides and a unique REC Recoil snake guide hook keeper.

The Cory Miles rods have taken off and they are not the design of Sawgrass. They are Cory’s. When offered a commission for his work, he replied “can we make a donation instead. In that spirit $25.00 of each model sale will be donated to Cody’s Puzzle Piece Foundation.
When asked why Sawgrass and why another series Cory said, “I drove to Dallas, Collins hosted me in his house, we had not even met before. We talked fishing rods for hours over dinner and well beyond. When you hear that Sawgrass listens and cares, they f’in do.”
